I have been drawing, painting and making things for over forty years. I\'m still emerging. I studied art at school and completed a degree in textile design at RMIT in the early 90\'s. I was at Uni just as CAD was being introduced so we were still hand painting our designs in multiple colourways using gouache and fine paint brushes. I was inspired by David Band, one of my drawing lecturers who introduced a very spontaneous and free approach to art making. My style was always child-like and naive but David gave me the license to run with it. I didn\'t have to pretend to design like William Morris anymore. \r\n \r\nI always return to painting as I like playing and messing around with colour and paint lends itself to that. Not everything works out but when it does I like the surprise it brings. I\'m inspired by many artists and designers; the ones that come to mind are David Band, Cy Twombly, Helen Frankenthaler, Ronan and Erwan Bouroulec, Marise Maas and Emily Ferretti. |
