I am a multi-faceted artist, whose interest in art began from a very young age. Family has and always will play a significant role in shaping my artistic practice, as my chosen art form was inspired by generations of women in my family. I manipulate a painterly aesthetic using old craft materials and embroidered threads by recycling sewing cotton used by generations of women in my family and weave it into abstract designs. My work attempts to demystify traditional craft processes through the deconstruction of the fabric matrix. The artform has allowed me to explore nostalgic traditions in the process and the sediments of the experiences I have are an impression of an incomplete tale, a way of stitching the story of my culture, traditions, travels and recording my mark.
